I still can’t make Vim as handy as the one I’m customed to in Debian GNU/Linux. So I decided to move to another powerful and awesome one: GNU Emacs. It suits me well with its binding keys as iBook offers limited key and many were designed to facilitate your control over your iBook first.
In fact I installed four editors on my iBook: Vim, Emacs, SubEthaEdit, and the lite and free version of BBEdit—TextWrangler. But the last two were seldom run. I still prefer those things based on *NIX.

aseigo: How To Kill Open Source on the Desktop?
Aaron J. Seigo, a KDE developer, recently published an entry on his blog raising the concern that Open Source softwares ported to Windows may play half for themselves. Some things alarming and warning.

What I disliked most of things in this institute is that its mail server is anti-spam free. The server is a Redhat box whose administrator seems to have little knowledge of anti-spam procedures. And because of accounts set up to facilitate communication among people of the institute, a sucked machine in the institute will stir a piling wave of spam fulling the mailboxes. Unfortunately nearly every worm that makes its footprint in the anti-virus progs’ databases will happily crawl in mailboxes of that server. I experienced for a couple of weeks with “Re:Hello” mails stuffing my mail box. So I gave up the hope that the virus-affected machine owner can some day update his virus database, and received all my mails using lab’s Debian machine, which is packed with Spamassassin and Amavis and read them with webmail prog.

When Google Desktop Search released, I said something against it and introduced Docco. I tried it on some PDF files from a special issue of Philos Trans R Soc Lond B Biol Sci, which is composed of a series of reviews celebrating the 30th annivesary of the finding of Long-Term Potentiation, and found it is very good to find keywords in PDFs. I am using it to indexing some my academic paper libraries.

After questioned this at a Xfce forum with one of Xfce’s developer, I finally made this done.
The solution in fact is rather simple. Since Xfdesktop works as a window which masks the root window, then a solution that kill Xfdesktop forever will show you Xplanet. Just a command can do this:
killall xfdesktop
then xfce4-session won’t restart it on next login.
Thank you benny.
BTW: Os-cillation, who hosts the forum, offers Debian packages with recent snapshots of the upcoming Xfce 4.2 desktop environment for i386 machines. You can added the following lines to taste it.
deb http://www.os-cillation.de/debian binary/
deb-src http://www.os-cillation.de/debian source/
They also makes Xfld, which is ‘Xfce live demo’, a GNU/Linux operating system (derived from Knoppix) that can be run completely from CD. It features an up-to-date Xfce as desktop environment.
